Luxury Residential Communities in the Paradise Valley Area

Scottsdale, with a population of about 260,000 residents, is part of the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area. As one of the fastest-growing places in the nation, it is known as "The West's most western town" and presents numerous events to honor that distinction.

The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show showcases the grace, talent, and power of approximately 2,000 purebred Arabian and Half-Arabian horses. Scottsdale also boasts a popular culinary week and a robust international film festival. The city is rife with many art galleries and studios—approximately 125 so far—and has one of the nation’s largest art markets. Only Manhattan and Santa Fe, New Mexico have more.

Paradise Valley is a luxury enclave in North Scottsdale at the base of Camelback Mountain. In these pristine foothills lie exclusive estates and architectural wonders, including the 1932 Wrigley mansion—technically in Phoenix proper—former home of chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. In its shadow lies the Arizona Biltmore Resort, the fantastic hotel and resort that was designed by the iconic architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

The area is experiencing a seller’s market, which means that housing inventory is lower than the number of buyers seeking Paradise Valley homes for sale. Sellers could even make multiple offers on their homes or offers that exceed their initial asking prices, while others could even experience bidding wars. Here are just a few luxury communities in Paradise Valley.

First comes the mountain

Camelback Mountain crowns Phoenix, and Paradise Valley real estate lies in its shadow. It resembles the head and hump of a massive, kneeling camel and has always been a much sought-after locale for exclusive homes, resorts, golf courses, rock climbing, and hiking trails—which attract more than 300,000 hikers annually. There’s nothing like a sunrise and sunset in the desert. There are two hiking trails that ascend nearly 1,300 feet: The Echo Canyon Trail and the Cholla Trail, between 1.14 and 1.4 miles high. They are classified as strenuous with steep grades and take up to three hours each to complete. Rock climbers will appreciate the Praying Monk, which is a red sandstone outcropping that resembles the silhouette of a person kneeling and praying.

Casa Blanca

Located at the base of Camelback Mountain, Casa Blanca is comprised of townhomes and single-family detached dwellings that are designed with a Middle Eastern flair that features white exteriors and ornate spires. These homes were built between the 1960s and 1980s and are outfitted with 13-foot ceilings and, in some cases, vaulted ceilings with grand wooden beams. The community of Paradise Valley real estate is equipped with a 24/7 access gate with security, and its residents enjoy panoramic mountain views, gardens, pools, and onsite spas.

Colonia Miramonte

The Camelback Inn is an iconic hotel that opened in 1936 and was famous as an upscale hideaway for prominent socialites and Hollywood A-listers of the time. Its slogan was “Where Time Stands Still,” and in the mid-1960s, developers took over the former horse stables to build  Colonia Miramonte, which translates to “Colony with a Mountain View.” This gated community now has 82 custom homes, a community pool, sweeping views of Camelback and Mummy Mountains, and access to all the shops, restaurants, and boutiques in downtown Phoenix.

Montelucia Villas

The Villas of Montelucia are one of the most exclusive “lock and leave” private communities in the state. It houses 34 luxury resort villas that are full-ownership homes amongst Paradise Valley homes for sale. Owners have complete access to all the amenities of the adjacent resort, which include spas, fitness facilities, swimming pools, and fine dining. The villas range from 3,800 to 4,700 square feet in size and are designed in the Spanish/Andalusian style, which features clean, light-colored exterior finishes offset with outdoor courtyards. They also host elevators and butler’s kitchens for the utmost luxury for their inhabitants. With amenities such as these, who needs to ever leave?

Residences at Ritz-Carlton

Opening soon, The Ritz-Carlton, Paradise Valley is a master-planned community amidst Paradise Valley homes for sale that features a resort hotel and residences as part of its living options. The community lies on 122 acres upon which a 200-room Ritz-Carlton resort sits. Surrounding the resort are single-level villas and single-family estate homes. The villas range in size from 1,700 square feet to more than 4,000 square feet. Within these size footprints lie one- to four-bedroom spaces, with some offering the option of an added den. Estate homes range from just over 8,00 square feet to almost 11,000 square feet. Residents will enjoy all the resort-based perks, including an Olympic-sized pool, a dedicated concierge, VIP access to hotel accommodations, VIP access to resort amenities, and select services that include in-residence dining and housekeeping.

Clearwater Hills

Clearwater Hills is an exclusive, gated community of custom-designed luxury homes that lie on the hillsides of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Every home is situated on at least one acre of land or more, and residents enjoy panoramic views of the city below and mountains all around. The enclave includes street and common area maintenance, a dedicated concierge, and a 24/7/365 manned guard entrance.

Before you purchase luxury Paradise Valley homes for sale, research the community you’re interested in to determine if it requires Homeowners’ Association (HOA) fees. These fees can range from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars each month and require that residents follow governing rules down to a T. In communities that require HOA fees, building standards are strictly upheld, and any plans you have as a homeowner to customize your dwelling require board approval.
